Scone Aero Club offers both Recreational Aviation Australia (RAA) training and General Aviation (GA) training. If you’re
thinking about becoming a pilot, the first step is to organize a Trial Introductory Flight (TIF) with one of our instructors.
The first step is to get yourself in the air with a Trial Introductory Flight (TIF). This is when you meet your instructor and get a feel for what’s involved in becoming a pilot. At $90 for a 30 minute flight, they also make a great gift idea! To organize a TIF please contact us.
The fastest growing sector of aviation is undoubtedly RAA. This is where most new pilots choose to begin their flight training experience. Minimum age is 14 to commence training, and 15 to fly solo in the training area. No medicals are required, however you’ll need to be fit enough to hold an Australian driver’s license. To achieve an RAA license generally takes 20 to 30 hours of flying. For more information contact us.
For those who want to fly bigger planes, carry more passengers, or need a stepping stone to becoming a commercial pilot, a GA license may be preferred. For more information on GA training contact us.
Membership to Scone Aero Club is $44 per year for a full flying member and $22 per year for a social member.

Scone Aero Club was successful in its Federal Government community application grant for 2020. With Barnaby Joyce’s assistance, the grant has given the club the opportunity to extend its floor space by 25% and as well include a new disabled access bathroom.
Scone council is well underway with the multi-million dollar upgrade to the airport. The small inconvenience to airport users will be repaid 10 fold as the construction nears completion and the new Terminal combined Warbird Museum gets underway, with completion around September 2021.
